What is The Film Fund all about?
Write one sentence for a chance to win up to $10,000 to fund your short film. The Film Fund serves as an alternative to film industry funding platforms such as screenwriting contests, time-intensive grant applications, and crowdfunding campaigns found on websites such as Kickstarter. Any film funding opportunity can be a great way to fund your project, but some require more time and effort than others, and the criteria of these other funding avenues aren't always straightforward. They could be biased, as a lot of grants favor a particular demographic or background.
That's part of the reason we've been featured in Sundance Institute's Inclusion Resource Map as a resource for underrepresented communities. Our entire platform is designed not to discriminate. We judge solely based on the quality of the submitted entries themselves.
At The Film Fund, we obviously care about the filmmakers, but we care even more about the work itself. That's why we judge the sentence entries independently from any other information. As soon as you click that submit button, we separate your name and all other information from your film pitch itself, except for your entry ID.
We think traditional funding avenues can be great, but we want to offer something different--and something that also doesn't take as much time, effort, or money to do. We achieve this via simple pitch contests and a passionate community of fellow filmmakers. We want to see films happen, and we're here to make it easier for them to come to life. By entering, you're not only getting a chance to fund your own project: you're supporting the entire ecosystem of independent film.
Simply explain your film's premise and how you'll use some of your budget in one quick pitch. Write one sentence. Don't waste hours of your life perfecting a grant application that might not even get read.
Or, if you still have time to submit to expensive grants, take one sentence from the grant, and submit it to us for $35.
You'll also join our film funding community, where you'll receive ongoing funding opportunities for your indie film projects.
Write one sentence describing your film for a chance to get up to $10,000 to make it.
